An internationally acclaimed Filipino painter who brought honor to the Philippines. Juan Luna was born in Badoc, llocos Norte on October 24, 1857. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ateneo de Manila. In 1877, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, Spain, where he won t.he high praises of his Spanish teachers.

FARO DE CABO ENGANO, Palaui Island, Santa Ana, Cagayan Province - Situated on the northern most tip of the island, the lighthouse, finished in 1892 is accessible via an hour banca ride from the town of Santa Ana, the last town on the north eastern tip of Luzon. The lighthouse situated on a bluff overlooking both the Babuyan channel and Pacific Oceans originally contained a first lens. Though today in partial ruin, the lighthouse in Cabo Engano still projects that haunting allure that makes this lighthouse a beautiful structure to see.

The launching of two beautiful special stamps in celebration of the 108th Anniversary of the Postal Service pays tribute to the sturdiness and beauty of the post office building in Manila. The stamps aptly capture in miniature the main post office building, from its ruins to restoration. Touted as one of the most dominating landmarks in Metro Manila and considered the grandest and the most beautiful building of its time, it was built during the early American occupation in 1926.

Manila Bulletin, which was first published by American teacher Carson C. Taylor and circulated in Manila on February 2, 1900 as the Daily Bulletin, ls the oldest newspaper in the country today. Starting as a business newspaper, Taylor conceptualized the Daily Bulletin "to give the public accurate and reliable shipping and commercial information."
